Sinisa Mihajlovic is “optimistic” about Alberto Gilardino's knee injury and Fiorentina's campaign.
There are fears the striker could be out for several weeks or even months after his left knee bent backwards in a collision with Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
“Gilardino got a knock to the knee. The positive news is the knee hasn't swollen up, so we are optimistic,” said Mihajlovic.
Fiorentina also released a statement confirming Gila underwent x-rays in a local hospital to rule out a fracture, but only on Monday will there be tests on ligament damage.
“The game was decided by incidents and immediately went Udinese's way with an early penalty, so they could focus on the counter-attack,” the Coach said of their 2-0 defeat.
“We held the ball well, but did not create that much in the final third. After the break we tried to be more attacking with two strikers plus Stevan Jovetic, but very quickly Gilardino got injured and that messed up all our plans.”
