De Laurentiis keeps Napoli grounded

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis urged fans to “keep our feet on the ground” after a wonderful victory over Milan.

“Children always want something more and so do football fans,” said the patron after a 3-1 win.

“We honoured the San Paolo, beat Milan with a strong performance and have been experiencing great emotions for seven years.

“When I'm at the stadium, I am an ultra, not the owner of the club. The fans have always been extremely generous, passionate and loving towards Napoli.

“They knew we were working for them and put faith in us, so we continue, but we must all keep our feet on the ground. There is a long road ahead of us.”

There was controversy over the summer when some clubs, including Manchester City, seemed prepared to pay the €32m buy-out clause for Ezequiel Lavezzi.

“Lavezzi's agent very sneakily asked me for a buy-out clause and as a novice, I fell for it, but from that point on I have never accepted another clause in the contract. There is a price for everyone, as this is a business, but I am the one who chooses it.”
