Maarten Stekelenburg has returned home after Saturday night's injury scare during Roma's game with Inter.
The 28-year-old Dutchman was knocked unconscious in the first half of his side's match against Inter when he came out to intercept a pass, and the on-rushing Lucio inadvertently kicked his head.
After spending the night in Milan's Niguarda hospital undergoing several tests, Stekelenburg was discharged yesterday morning, and had returned to Rome by 16.00.
Initial tests, including a CAT scan, indicate direct head trauma and indirect neck trauma. The former Ajax man is set to undergo a series of follow-up tests with club doctors in the coming days.
He is then set for a scheduled appointment with a neurosurgeon to fully diagnose the extent of his injuries and project a recovery time.
Dutch teammate and former Ajax club-mate Wesley Sneijder visited the goalkeeper during his stay in hospital.
