Alberto Malesani dedicated Genoa's Olimpico victory to doubting President Enrico Preziosi. “I did say it'd take a little time.”
The Coach was publicly lambasted by Preziosi after the 2-2 draw with Atalanta in the opening round, but impressed in a 2-1 victory away to Lazio.
“I dedicate the win to President Preziosi,” smiled Malesani. “I came here because he chose me and I am proud of that fact.
“We have a good rapport and are working side by side to help this project grow.
“However, in order to be on the field the way that I want, I did say it'd take a little time. Even more time will be needed to change our mentality.”
The breakthrough star of the Olimpico game was Cristobal Jorquera, the 23-year-old Chilean who created the goal for Rodrigo Palacio.
“I was the one who insisted he stay in the squad. He knows how to play cross-field passes with a quality I have rarely seen in my life. He had a fantastic game, but now there is the risk he could get big-headed.”
