Malesani keeps Genoa alert

Alberto Malesani will not allow Genoa to rest on their laurels after shocking Lazio. “Catania are tough and I don't want to see a dip in concentration.”

The Rossoblu opened their campaign with a disappointing home draw against Atalanta, but made a much better impression when taking all three points at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Catania are a tough side with four points and have not yet conceded a goal. We've got to put in a humble performance. I don't want to see a dip in concentration and the team knows that,” said the Coach.

“Before these results, I was urged to improve Genoa's away record. Now they want better achievements at home. Nothing changes for me, as the objective remains the same: win and make the Genoa fans happy.

“It only matters to a degree where the points come from, the important thing is that we succeed.”

There have been reports the Grifone could switch to a three-man defence for this match, though Malesani was reticent.

“The idea is that we play with four at the back. Clearly, we must also evaluate who we are facing and the game we're going into. For example, if we have to push hard down the flanks, then we could play with three. It's not a problem.”

Genoa squad: Antonelli, Birsa, Bovo, Caracciolo, Constant, Dainelli, Frey, Granqvist, Jankovic, Jorquera, Kaladze, Kucka, Lupatelli, Merkel, Moretti, Palacio, Pratto, Ribas, Seymour, Sturaro, Veloso
