Mimmo Di Carlo praised his players for their hard work and concentration, as Chievo recorded a surprise victory over Napoli.
It is the Mussi Volanti's third consecutive win over the Azzurri, but was a surprise in light of the form both teams carried into the game. However, Di Carlo believes the signs were there in the previous weeks, and that his players merited the three points.
"I think we played well against Novara and Parma, had two good games. Against Napoli we played a shrewd and careful game. In Parma we were able to put the opponent under pressure, but were punished in the crucial phase of attention. This time that did not happen. Finally, we knew how to take advantage.
The Coach also reflected on what in particular was the difference between the sides in terms of performance.
"Great concentration. I saw a determined Chievo from the beginnning to the end of the game. I asked the guys for this. We knew it was dangerious to give anything to our opponents and the reading of the game was excellent.
"At the beginning of the second half we started to push on the accelerator a bit more. Substitutions went well, we were calm and we were able to leave with the sweet taste of victory.
A goal from Davide Moscardelli decided the game, and along with Cyril Thereau and Sergio Pellissier in Week 2 and Alberto Paloschi in Week 3, sees that the Gialloblu have had four strikers score already this season.
"Moscardelli could have had two or three. Davide is a player of great quality, he can rock the boat at any time. I am still happy with my four strikers because they managed in three days to all score. This is an important sign. It means we can embarrass anyone."
"[The win] helps reinforce the knowledge that when Chievo are determined and play well, that they can hurt anyone. As we have just seen with Napoli."
