Conte: 'Foolish to rely on one player'

Antonio Conte has hit back at Pietro Lo Monaco's claims that Juventus are over-dependent on Andrea Pirlo.

The Catania sporting director suggested the Bianconeri have an unhealthy reliance on the playmaker after watching his team record a credible draw against Conte's Juve, with Pirlo man-marked, and admitting afterwards it affected his performance.

Conte, however, took time yesterday to respond to Lo Monaco's claims.

"This is not true, we try to play as a team. It would be foolish to depend on one player, but Pirlo is great."

From four rounds played, Pirlo is joint-leader in the League for providing assists - three - along with Rodrigo Palacio and Antonio Cassano, whilst the No 21 faces his old teammates at the weekend when Juventus host Milan.
