Claudio Marchisio is “overjoyed” that the first brace of his career has given Juventus the victory over Milan.
The midfielder netted twice in the final stages to secure a 2-0 win in Turin.
“I had said at the end of the first half that we needed to maintain this tempo. We believed to the end and my opening goal was proof we must never give in,” said the midfielder.
“It is my first ever brace and I am overjoyed. We are working to top the table and contrast the pressure from Udinese, Roma, Milan, Napoli, Inter and Lazio.”
This was the first big game of the season for Juventus and particularly their first against a top team in their new stadium.
“This stadium and the fans deserved this type of an evening. We prepared knowing how difficult it would be, but it's not as if we needed extra motivation in such a fixture.”
