Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni's three and a half year ban over a betting scandal remains after he lost an appeal.
The former Italian international had asked the National Arbitration Tribunal for Sport (TNAS) to suspend the ban pending another appeal.
However, this evening it was confirmed the TNAS had rejected Doni's request.
As part of the betting scandal, Atalanta were ordered to start the season from -6 points.
Teammate Tomas Manfredini was also suspended for three years, but then cleared on appeal.
