Gokhan Inler is targeting glory with Napoli after failing to qualify for Euro 2012 with the Swiss national side.
Switzerland surprisingly finished third in Group G behind qualifiers England and Montenegro who netted the play-off spot.
"Gokhan really wanted to take part in the European Championship," his agent Dino Lamberti told Marte Sport Live.
"He's really disappointed. There is some bitterness, but he now just has to focus on some other things.
"He'll make up for the failure by winning with Napoli.
"Gokhan loves this city and he's convinced that he made the right choice for his career by coming here."
Inler, also targeted by Juventus, eventually signed for the Azzurri from Udinese after protracted negotiations over the summer.
