Fiorentina demonstrated an interest in Emanuele Giaccherini before he joined Juventus in the summer.
The 26-year-old, who can play as a winger or a second striker, was signed in a co-ownership deal from Cesena in August for a fee of €3m.
However, his agent has today confirmed the whispers which claimed that the Viola were keen on his services.
"Fiorentina were the first club to make a move for him," representative Furio Valcareggi told Lady Radio. "They did so quietly.
"Nevertheless, then Juventus stepped forward for him. Their Coach, Antonio Conte, wanted him at all costs."
Giaccherini, currently recovering from a slight muscle injury, has made four Serie A appearances for the Old Lady so far this term for a total of 264 minutes.
