The Players' Association has officially called off the strike planned for this weekend after “defending the fundamental rights of all workers.”
It had already been hinted for two days that the strike would be abandoned following intensive negotiations between the Players' Association (AIC), Federation (FIGC) and union of Serie A clubs (Lega).
“The AIC has taken into account the good progress of the negotiations for a collective bargaining deal, with the mediation of FIGC President Giancarlo Abete,” read a statement.
“Having heard from the representatives of the teams, we confirm the protest action has been called off so the Serie A players will step on to the field for Week 16 set for December 11 and 12.
“The AIC thanks the players, who showed unity, a great sense of responsibility in defending their professional dignity and the fundamental rights of all workers.”
