Giorgio Chiellini wants Italy to again underline their defensive strength under Cesare Prandelli in the game against Poland.
Italy have conceded eight goals in 16 ties since Prandelli took charge after World Cup 2010, but only two of them came in their 10 Euro 2012 qualifying encounters.
“We want to confirm the good defensive work which we have done in our match tomorrow,” the Juventus man noted.
“I’m happy and proud that the defence has conceded so few goals.”
Chiellini has been most recently used as a left-back by Juve this term, but he’ll be moved back into the middle against Poland tomorrow night.
He’ll also be assisted by a debutant given that Milan right-back Ignazio Abate has been named in the starting XI.
“I’m happy that Ignazio is with us,” added the former Fiorentina defender. “We’ve known each other since our time together with the Italian Under-21 side.
“He’s really grown up and he deserves this call-up because of his performances with Milan.”
