Cavani celebrates Uruguay win

Napoli and Uruguay hitman Edinson Cavani reveals what tonight’s friendly victory in Italy meant.

“It really means a lot to us, as we came here trying to win against Italy and for our position in the FIFA ranking,” he said of the 1-0 result at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

“We also wanted to win to continue our fine form and this feels like a very important result.”

The Azzurri argued they played better on the night and had numerous scoring opportunities after Sebastian Fernandez netted the third-minute decider.

“This is football, we all know the team that scores will win. Italy had plenty of chances, but were unable to take them.

“The discussion at the end with Giorgio Chiellini? Nothing, these are things that happen on the field and that is all.

“There is nothing better than playing for your country, so this is what I had to focus on here. From tomorrow I’ll think about Napoli and of course we want the best.”
