Cesare Prandelli’s Italy will be in pot two for the Euro 2012 draw which will take place in Ukraine on Friday 2 December.
UEFA have announced the seedings on Wednesday after the qualification stage for the competition ended last night with the play-offs.
Co-hosts Poland and Ukraine are top seeds along with world and European champions Spain, as well as Holland.
Italy are in the second batch of countries which means they can’t be placed in a group with Germany, England or Russia.
Pot three contains Croatia, Greece, Portugal and Sweden, while pot four sees Denmark, France, the Republic of Ireland and the Czech Republic.
The 16 teams will be drawn into four groups of four at a ceremony in Kiev next month.
Pot one:Poland [Group A], Spain, Holland, Ukraine [Group D]
Pot two: Germany, Italy, England, Russia
Pot three: Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Sweden
Pot four: Denmark, France, Republic of Ireland, Czech Republic
