Inter President Massimo Moratti believes the victory over Cagliari is a strong sign, even if “there is tension over our position in the table.”
The Nerazzurri scraped a 2-1 win on Saturday at San Siro and, with a game in hand, are still on the edge of the relegation zone.
“When we were 2-0 up, we conceded our opponents’ goal. We always have to die a little in the final five minutes of every game. That’s our destiny,” shrugged the patron.
“There is tension over our position in the table. I hope this situation will be temporary, but it is in any case irritating.
“We feel the tension, so do the fans and the players, which is why they are struggling to play in a relaxed manner.
“I did see improvements, as after the opening goal the team did begin to pass the ball around neatly.
“Ricky Alvarez and Jonathan did very well, as did Philippe Coutinho who is like a new signing considering he hasn’t made his mark yet. This shows we were right to pursue a certain strategy of investing in youth.”
