Six players have been suspended as a result of bookings and dismissals from Week 12’s round of action.
Novara’s Riccardo Meggiorini receives a three-game suspension for his quick-fire double booking at the weekend at Genoa. Having just received a yellow card, the player was shown an immediate second for using an ‘insulting expression’ towards the match official.
The length of the ban reflects his repetition of the phrase and the fact it is his third such disciplinary case.
Luca Antonelli was shown a straight red card in the same game for tripping an opponent and denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. The full-back has been subsequently handed a one-game ban.
Federico Balzaretti of Palermo, Maurizio Lauro of Cesena, Gaby Mudingayi of Bologna and Nicolas Spolli of Catania have all also picked up one-match suspensions for accumulating yellow cards.
