Federico Marchetti has hailed his own performance in Lazio’s 0-0 draw at Napoli. “It was one of my best games ever.”
The Italian international was a major reason why the capital outfit netted a point at the San Paolo following a string of fine saves.
“It was one of my best displays ever, among my top three,” the custodian told Lazio Style Radio. “Spending all of last season on the sidelines at Cagliari is now in the past…”
The goalkeeper, who didn’t play at all last term following a bust-up with Cagliari chief Massimo Cellino, is getting back to his very best.
He’s now kept a clean sheet in his side’s last three games, but will face idol Gigi Buffon at the weekend when Juventus arrive at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I’ve always admired Buffon,” added the man who replaced the injured Buffon at the 2010 World Cup Finals.
“He was always a role model for me and a player that I have aspired to be like since the start of my career.
“Juventus? Antonio Conte’s side are in great form and we’ll have to put in a super display. We’ll play an open game though.”
