Alberto Malesani concedes Genoa keep making the same mistakes at both ends of the field, “but Milan were superior tonight.”
The Rossoblu’s unbeaten home record came to an end in this 2-0 defeat, which saw Kakha Kaladze sent off for giving away a penalty.
“We had based our approach on counter-attacks, although perhaps we got a bit too pegged back into our own half, even if we rarely ran risks,” said the Coach.
“When we started to play a little better, we went down to 10 men and conceded a goal because of our mistake. It’s our fifth red card of the season, we go a man down too many times and it’s not good enough.
“Tonight Milan were superior and we were far too sterile in attack. Rodrigo Palacio’s absence was sorely felt, as without him it gets really tough.
“Up until now we’ve been able to score with many different players, but now we’ll see if we can resolve the strikers’ drought or make changes in January.”
Malesani was said to be on the brink, so will this defeat prove the final straw for President Enrico Preziosi?
“I just saw the President and we shook hands.”
