Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is in Spain for tonight’s crunch Villarreal match. “From Serie C to the Champions League.”
The Partenopei were in the Italian third division when De Laurentiis bought the club seven years ago, but a win tonight is enough to see them through to the knockouts of Europe’s premier competition, or even defeat if Manchester City fail to beat Bayern Munich.
“Am I tense? Well, remember we came from Serie C, so we’re used to this kind of fiery atmosphere,” said the Hollywood mogul.
“My rapport with the Villarreal President is excellent, as I personally know Fernando Roig and we have strong mutual respect.”
He then turned to the fans who had also come to Spain for the historic encounter.
“I just ask you to stay calm. After all, Napoli have come from Serie C to the Champions League.”
There was also some good news for Napoli, as Villarreal have lost Borja Valero to gastroenteritis and Cani is injured.
