Mangia apologises to Palermo fans

Devis Mangia admits “that was a terrible performance and I can only apologise to the Palermo fans.”

The Sicilians had been expecting a seventh consecutive home victory, but were shocked 1-0 by Cesena this evening.

“That was a terrible performance,” confessed the Coach. “Perhaps we underestimated the game and certainly took the wrong approach. When you play this badly, it’s only right that the other team wins, so we can’t say Cesena didn’t deserve it.

“If we think that we can get results without working as hard as our opponents, then we have it very badly wrong. Everyone must understand this is unacceptable and start again. I tried in every way to avoid this risk, but it still didn’t work.

“Fortunately we have put some points away during the campaign, so we must draw a line under this and get back on track. I always took it one game at a time and we need to learn from our mistakes.

“I thank the crowd for saluting the team at the final whistle and I can only apologise to the Palermo fans.”
