Francesco Totti has declared he is “thinking about leaving Roma. If someone thinks I’m the problem, then I can step aside.”
The captain has spent most of this season on the bench and was at the Giallorossi Christmas party tonight when Sky Sport Italia asked if he’d consider leaving, as Alessandro Del Piero is doing with Juventus.
“Yes, I have been thinking about that, especially recently. If things continue this way, then I will continue to reflect on that option.
“If someone thinks I’m the problem, then I can step aside. I am not referring to the Coach, the club or teammates, but rather to a few fans.”
Totti has spent his entire playing career at hometown club Roma, but is increasingly on the outskirts of Coach Luis Enrique’s plans.
He was also criticised after seeing his penalty saved in Monday’s 1-1 draw with Juventus.
