Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that his club have netted Eduardo Vargas from Universidad de Chile.
“I can officially announce that we have signed Vargas,” the Azzurri chief told Radio Marte on Friday afternoon.
“A few minutes I go I received a phone call from our doctor who has given the player the OK from a physical point of view.
“We’ve signed the contracts and we have beaten some very strong clubs who were also chasing the player.
“This is proof that we are always on the lookout for talented youngsters from around the world in order to help Napoli grow.”
The Chilean, just 22, is a forward who will be eligible to play in the Champions League when the competition resumes in February.
It’s unclear how much the Italian outfit have had to pay for the South American, but it is believed to be around the €10m mark.
