Marino: 'Nothing worked for Genoa'

Pasquale Marino’s Genoa debut was a disaster, falling 3-0 in Cagliari. “Absolutely nothing worked. I expected something different.”

The Coach was drafted in over Christmas to replace Alberto Malesani, who was sacked due to the 6-1 loss at Napoli.

However, 2012 has brought no improvement with a thumping 3-0 defeat in Sardinia on the debuts of both Marino and striker Alberto Gilardino.

“We started out too timid and made too many mistakes, allowing our opponents plenty of chances,” moaned the Coach.

“Absolutely nothing worked today. I expected something different after all the hard work we’d done over the past few days.

“In the second half we continued to sit far too deep and never really went past the centre-circle, then made a huge error on the third goal that finished off the game.”
