Viola considered Luis Enrique

A report in Tuscany is suggesting that Fiorentina were advised to hire Luis Enrique when boss Cesare Prandelli left in 2010.

According to the story in the Corriere Fiorentino, agent Dario Canovi suggested the Spaniard as a candidate when Prandelli left to join the Italian national side.

However, Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino opted to go with a more established name in the form of Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Enrique, 41, started his coaching career with the Barcelona B team in 2008 and left the Nou Camp reserves in the summer for Roma.

Fiorentina are now bossed by Delio Rossi after Mihajlovic was shown the door earlier this season.
