Stevan Jovetic is in sensational form for Fiorentina, but assures the fans he is “not 100 per cent fit yet.”
The Montenegro international missed out on the entire 2010-11 campaign with a devastating knee injury that required several operations, but has now become their top player with nine goals.
“Game after game I feel better, even if I am not 100 per cent fit yet,” he told the official Fiorentina website.
“Do I feel like a leader? No, I am only the one who has scored the most goals and always try to give a helping hand to the team. I have an objective in mind, but I’m keeping it there. For the moment the important thing is to keep helping Fiorentina win.
“It was very exciting to wear the captain’s armband against Roma last night, even if the result did not go as planned,” he said of the 3-0 Coppa Italia defeat.
“We made problems for the Giallorossi, but perhaps were just lacking the goal. I like the new 3-5-2 system, as I can play closer to the goal and can therefore be more dangerous. We just lack a little consistency right now and it won’t be easy against Lecce.
“Delio Rossi has brought in new ideas, but we still have a long way to go.”
