Giuseppe Scullli has admitted that he never thought he’d return to Genoa – exactly a year after he left the Grifone for Lazio.
The attacker has arrived in the port city this afternoon to undergo his medical after the two clubs agreed a deal for the 30-year-old.
“I’m emotional,” he noted. “I left on January 18 last year. I return on January 18, 12 months later. When I left here I never thought that I would be able to return one day.
“I’m happy as this is my home. I thank Lazio and especially Genoa President Enrico Preziosi who did all that he could to bring me back.
“This is a challenge for me and I’ll have to work hard and well to win the faith of the Coach.”
Sculli could now be used in a trident attack consisting of Rodrigo Palacio and new centre-forward Alberto Gilardino.
“I don’t know about that,” he added. “I’m at the disposal of the Coach and my teammates. The Coach will decide.”
