Zanetti: Too cold to play

Inter captain Javier Zanetti has questioned the wisdom of playing evening games during the cold winter months.

The Argentine made the comment after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over Genoa in the Coppa Italia last night, a tie which didn’t kick-off until 9pm local time.

“It’s very dangerous especially when it’s this cold,” the South American veteran told Inter Channel after the San Siro tie.

“We shouldn’t be playing at this time of night and I’m not only saying this for Inter, but for all the teams.”

Turning to Inter’s rejuvenated form, Zanetti urged his teammates to continue what they have been producing over the last two months.

“We have to maintain consistency and that’s what we are doing,” added the versatile midfielder.

“Now we have to concentrate on beating Lazio on Sunday and then we're off to Naples for the Coppa Italia – just like last year.

“Let’s hope that brings us luck…”
