Genoa want Cerci but…

Serie A outfit Genoa have admitted that they are interested in Fiorentina attacker Alessio Cerci.

Reports are suggesting that the Italian is very close to a switch to Marassi, but the Grifone admit that a deal is far from done.

“We have to evaluate a few things because Fiorentina are asking us for a player in return,” Rossoblu President Enrico Preziosi noted.

“The transfer market is still open and everything is possible right now.”

Genoa have been very active in the window to date after bringing in Davide Biondini from Cagliari and Fiorentina forward Alberto Gilardino.

The club have also sold given that they have loaned Milan the services of Alexander Merkel, while there is talk that Miguel Veloso and Juraj Kucka cold also be on their way out.

“Veloso is too important for us to sell,” added Preziosi. “He could go if a big enough offer was tabled, but I don’t think that is possible.

“Kucka? No offer from Inter has arrived, but if it does then we can sit down around a table and we can talk.”
