Cagliari will be looking to use the final week of the January transfer window to sign a new striker.
The Rossoblu are keen on giving boss Davide Ballardini a fresh option in attack and they are being linked with two men this morning.
The first is Palermo forward Mauricio Pinilla, but Rosanero chief Maurizio Zamparini is unlikely to sacrifice the Chilean without being suitably rewarded with a sizeable transfer fee.
An alternative to Pinilla is Juventus’ Luca Toni given that he doesn’t have a future with the Turin giants.
As Toni’s contract is set to expire in June, he would be available for a relatively small fee given that he hasn’t played for Juve this term.
However, the problem with the former Bayern Munich man is that it is unclear whether the Sant’Elia outfit could afford his wages.
