Filippo Inzaghi has revealed his and Alessandro Del Piero’s secret to extending their respective careers into their late 30s .
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport this week, 38-year-old Milan striker Inzaghi, who could be in action on Thursday in his team’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio, reflected on the praise 37-year-old Del Piero has received this week.
The Juventus forward scored his first goal at his club’s stadium this week in Juve’s quarter-final 3-0 win over Roma.
“I was happy for him. Ale, like me, lives football with great passion and professionalism. He deserves everything he gets.”
Del Piero’s strike drew him level with Inzaghi on 287 career strikes. The duo find themselves now both four goals behind Roberto Baggio’s 291 haul.
“We will do everything to catch Baggio,” admitted former Atalanta man Inzaghi. “Our secret? We are never satisfied. Now we train so much and play little, but we will still not give up. We always have new objectives.”
Should Milan overcome Lazio tonight then they will face Del Piero’s Juventus in the semi-finals.
“It would be nice to meet in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Time passes, but we’re still people and the affection for the prize is all the more beautiful.”
