Catania boss Vincenzo Montella looks forward to today’s relegation scrap with Parma, but admits he’s “surprised by the unprecedented” Maxi Lopez-Milan saga.
Lopez was loaned out to the Rossoneri on Friday evening, but only after weeks of delays as they waited to see if Carlos Tevez would arrive from Manchester City instead.
“In many years of football I have never seen a situation like it,” said Montella. “It’s bizarre and I was surprised by the unprecedented nature of this saga. At least he finally got to live his dream.”
Catania are in action at 17.00 UK time today in a head-to-head with fellow relegation battlers Parma.
“This will be very difficult and delicate, as Parma are a point above us. We have to make the most of our home advantage playing at the Massimino.
“The Ducali have changed their system rather than their players and at the moment are in great shape. In order to get a result, we must always take the initiative and not adapt to our opponents. All I care about is getting my players to give their best without considering the individuals in the other team.”
Montella has to reshuffle for today’s match, as Sergio Almiron and Nicola Legrottaglie are suspended.
