Serse Cosmi celebrated Lecce’s first home win of the season by stunning Inter. “We deserved to get a result like this earlier.”
The Salentini had only two points at the Stadio Via del Mare before today’s shock 1-0 victory.
“Inter were coming off seven straight wins, so I had a few concerns about this match,” confessed Cosmi.
“We deserved to get a result like this earlier, but now we’re rediscovering our confidence. I have to say these lads worked very hard and want attacking football above all else. I must therefore also give credit to my predecessor Eusebio Di Francesco.”
Lecce gave debuts to new signings Martin Miglionico, Manuele Blasi and Seferovic today, but could also bring in Gennaro Delvecchio from Catania.
“I asked the club for players with a ‘healthy ignorance’ who have the character to make the difference in difficult situations. Gennaro is that type of player, one who won’t let himself get anxious against the odds.
“At the same time, we have players of exceptional quality like Luis Muriel and Juan Cuadrado. The job of a Coach with them is to help these stars give their best and avoid ruining their capabilities.”
