Forgotten Juventus full-back Marco Motta looks set to be handed a chance to rebuild a name for himself at Catania.
Vincenzo Montella’s side are understood to have agreed a loan deal until the end of the season to take the 25-year-old former Udinese and Roma defender away from Turin.
Former Italy Under-21 right-back Motta struggled in his first season with the Old Lady in 2010-11 and despite the club taking up the option to sign him in the summer, he has barely featured under Antonio Conte, with Stephan Lichtsteiner holding the first-choice position ahead of him.
Motta was expected to depart this January, with a move to Spain or a switch to Novara amongst his original options. It is understood that Gli Elefanti will wrap up the deal in a matter of hours.
