Fiorentina are thinking about bringing in Davide Santon from Inter and also intend to sign a back up for Alberto Gilardino in January, according to reports in Italy.
The Della Valle family has promised to reinforce the squad when the transfer window opens again after a disappointing start to the season under Sinisa Mihajlovic.
However, it would appear that Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino will have to raise some of the cash from player sales in the coming month.
Cristiano Zanetti, Felipe and Mario Bolatti all look set to be sacrificed amid strong interest in their signatures both at home and abroad.
Fiorentina are said to be very keen on Santon who has grown unsettled at Inter on account of a lack of regular first team football.
The 19-year-old has made just four starting appearances this season and feels he might need to move on to make any progress.
Last week, his agent encouraged offers from interested parties, alerting Fiorentina to the prospect of solving their problems on the left-hand side.
It remains to be seen whether Santon would arrive on loan or on a permanent basis and how the deal would eventually be structured.
As for the midfield, if both Zanetti and Bolatti leave, Corvino will apparently inquire about Cesena's Marco Parolo, Cagliari's Davide Biondini and Parma's Blerim Dzemaili.
Fiorentina are also in need of a back up for Gilardino leading to speculation about Andrea Caracciolo, Massimo Maccarone or Robert Acquafresca moving to the Artemio Franchi.
