Marino targets Lazio upset

Pasquale Marino’s Genoa beat Udinese and Napoli in recent home games, so the Coach hopes for three in a row as Lazio visit at Sunday lunch-time.

The 11.30am UK time kick-off at Marassi is expected to go ahead despite snow in the city, as the latest inspection found the pitch and stands in good shape.

“Lazio are a very strong side who will be particularly fired up after their win against Milan. We’re aware this is going to be a difficult game, especially as Lazio have an excellent away record, but we are doing well and have no reason to take a step back.

“Our results on home turf should help us push forward even more with 100 per cent concentration. Genoa have a lot of work to do and it is going to take time. The new arrivals will help create healthy competition within the squad.”

January arrivals Roger Carvalho and Fernando Belluschi both receive their first call-ups after their international transfers came through.

Miguel Veloso and Marco Rossi are recovering, but not enough to be risked on Sunday, so they join Cesare Bovo, Emiliano Moretti and Luca Antonelli on the sidelines.

Genoa squad:25 Belluschi, 88 Biondini, 10 Birsa, 3 Carvalho, 27 Constant, 1 Frey, 82 Gilardino, 5 Granqvist, 11 Jankovic, 19 Jorquera, 13 Kaladze, 33 Kucka, 22 Lupatelli, 20 Mesto, 8 Palacio, 2 Pratto, 31 Sampirisi, 73 Scarpi, 81 Sculli, 9 Eduardo
