Lazio livid at Genoa go-ahead

Lazio are livid at the fact their game with Genoa went ahead. “We asked to the last minute for it to be postponed.”

The Biancocelesti had already requested a postponement over the past couple of days, as there were huge problems in reaching Liguria.

Many players were snowed in on Saturday and some even had to walk to the Formello training ground, then their plane was delayed so in all it took seven hours to go from Rome to Genoa.

“We asked to the last minute for it to be postponed, as before the game we could see the pitch was frozen solid,” explained director of sport Igli Tare after a 3-2 defeat.

“We had serious problems in getting here and it’s not safe to play on a pitch like this. You risk injuries and we got them.

“It’s also true Lazio were unable to train for the previous two days because of the snow at Formello. We contacted the Lega, but nothing was done.”

The Biancocelesti lost Hernanes to injury during the warm-up, then Tommaso Rocchi after just 16 minutes and eventually Marius Stankevicius limped off too.

Coach Edy Reja was so angry at the decision to go ahead with the match that he refused to speak with the media after the final whistle.
