Pasquale Marino knows Genoa must adjust their expectations of the season and be wary of Chievo. “They can do damage on the counter-attack.”
The Grifone sacked Alberto Malesani over Christmas, but since Marino came in they’ve alternated between strong home results and a dismal away record.
“The defeats left us with a bitter taste in our mouths, but must act as further motivation for the next time we play away from home,” said Marino.
“Now our objective has to be to reach 40 points as soon as possible, then we’ll see about the rest.
“Chievo are a very tough opponent who always give teams problems. They close up well and can do damage on the counter-attack.”
Genoa have won their last four consecutive home matches, but lost the last five on their travels.
