Mutti future in his own hands

Palermo will have no hesitation in extending the contract of Bortolo Mutti if results continue to impress.

The Rosanero demolished Lazio 5-1 on Sunday, a fourth straight home win for Mutti who replaced Devis Mangia in December 2011.

Mutti only put pen to paper on a contract until June, but his side are starting to deliver performances after some initial difficulties.

“Now is not the time to talk about a renewal for Mutti and we haven’t even discussed the matter,” President Maurizio Zamparini told ReteReteNews24.

“However, if things continue like this then he will renew his contract himself…

“Is he my Jose Mourinho? You journalists said that, but he is certainly more humble than Mourinho which is better.”

Palermo have had an inconsistent season thanks to their good home form and disappointing away record, but Zamparini insists things will get better.

“This is a transitional year for us,” he added. “We want to get to 40 points as soon as possible and then do something a little different.

“The objective is to play good football, the best possible with serenity.”
