Mazzarri 'wanted a fourth'

Walter Mazzarri watched Napoli’s triumph over Chelsea in the hotel, but rushed to the stadium to celebrate with his squad. “Shame we didn’t get a fourth.”

The Coach has to sit out a two-game touchline ban for shoving time-wasting Nilmar during the 2-0 win at Villarreal.

He opted not to sit in the stands, but rather watched the game on television in a hotel and saw Napoli beat Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of this Champions League clash.

“It only took me 25 minutes to go from the hotel to the stadium. Naples was empty and it was so easy to get here,” grinned Mazzarri.

“I liked the team in every respect. We only suffered for 10 minutes after that blasted goal. We had played well up until then and went close twice, but this team really amazed me. We created so many chances and it’s a shame Christian Maggio’s opportunity didn’t get a fourth.

“Maggio’s chance does leave a few regrets, as it would’ve made us more relaxed for the second leg. It’s going to be tough and we know they have champions who can score two goals at home.

“Now we take this good result and prepare for a difficult game in the second leg.”
