Lazio have confirmed Edy Reja “presented his resignation, but the club rejected it, so nothing has changed.”
The reports swirled around this afternoon that the Coach had sent a fax with his resignation after a blazing row with director of sport Igli Tare.
“Reja presented his resignation today at 14.00, but the club rejected it, so nothing has changed,” announced director of communication Stefano Di Martino.
“When we return to Rome, everyone will make their evaluations. We give this announcement to clarify matters for the fans.
“Reja sent a written copy of his resignation, but Lazio turned it down. The Coach is here now and we’ll see what happens on Friday.”
This confirms Reja had intended to quit before Thursday’s Europa League trip to Atletico Madrid, but was essentially forced to get on the plane with his squad.
