Gianfranco Zola is reportedly the new top candidate to replace Edy Reja at Lazio after a deal was already reached with Gigi De Canio.
The chaos drags on in Rome, as this morning Reja set off to lead the training session and pointed out “until I am told anything, I will continue my work out of respect for the players and fans.”
It’s still far from clear who will be at the helm for Sunday’s game against Fiorentina.
Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport claims Lazio have set up a meeting later today with Zola, who is flying in from London for talks.
This would be the first Serie A management experience for the former West Ham United boss, who worked briefly as co-Coach with Pierluigi Casiraghi of the Under-21 Italy side in 2006.
According to numerous sources, a meeting with De Canio was held on Friday in which he agreed to take over on a contract to the end of the season.
However, President Claudio Lotito is not convinced this is the best choice and will therefore continue to shop around by going to see Zola.
