Ancelotti has Roma ambition

Carlo Ancelotti says he was never approached over the Roma job – but he still dreams of a capital future.

The Italian was linked with the Giallorossi hotseat in the summer given that he was available following his departure from Chelsea.

“There was never any contact with the club,” the present Paris Saint-Germain tactician told Max magazine. “Perhaps because I earn too much.”

The Stadio Olimpico outfit eventually turned to Barcelona B boss Luis Enrique to replace the out-going Vincenzo Montella.

“I think Luis Enrique has some good ideas and a good philosophy to add to Italian football, but he still needs time,” Ancelotti continued.

“A future at Roma for me? Yes, but I hope that Luis Enrique isn’t annoyed by that.”

Ancelotti, now 52, has a close bond with Roma given that he spent eight years there as a player before his 1987 move to Milan. He later managed the Rossoneri.

He also played for Parma in his career and bossed them too for a two-year period from 1996.
