Giampaolo Pazzini is looking forward to tonight’s Italian international friendly in Genoa. “I left my heart here.”
The Inter striker is in the squad for the tie against America and returns to Marassi, the arena where he regularly found the net for Sampdoria.
“I left my heart in Genoa,” the 27-year-old told the Corriere Mercantile. “I had two extraordinary years with Sampdoria.”
Doria signed Pazzini in January 2009 and he scored 48 goals in all competitions before his January 2011 move to Inter. Later that season, Samp were relegated from the top flight.
“It’s sad to see Sampdoria in Serie B and I was really disappointed when it happened last term,” continued the former Fiorentina ace.
“I think Samp still do have a chance of promotion this season though – they can at least get into sixth-place and the play-offs.”
Doria are currently 10th, eight points shy of sixth-placed Varese.
