Zanetti calls on Inter old guard

Javier Zanetti admits that it will be up to Inter’s veterans to drag the club out of the crisis which is engulfing their season.

The Nerazzurri are on a poor run of form which has seen them pick up just one point from the last 18 available in Serie A.

To complicate matters, they have lost their last five games in all competitions – five matches in which they have failed to score.

“It’s a combination of things that are not going right at the moment,” the Argentine 38-year-old noted. “We’ve been unfortunate in games too.

“We’ve lost a little bit of belief in ourselves and it is us veterans who have to react first to all of this,” he added.

“I see a lot of younger teammates who in a less complicated situation could certainly start performing better than they are.”

Inter entertain Catania at San Siro this weekend.
