Inter are thinking about offering Davide Santon in exchange for Parma defender Cristian Zaccardo, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
A series of injuries have left Inter short of options at the back, although the arrival of Andrea Ranocchia from Genoa has gone some way to alleviating their concerns.
Nonetheless, Inter don't want to be caught out again in the second half of the season, especially considering Walter Samuel's serious knee injury.
Yesterday Inter President Massimo Moratti said: "I am convinced that this group is very strong, but I am not a Coach.
"If there is something that needs doing, then we will do it.
"We will keep an eye on the entrance and the exit."
La Gazzetta understands Inter are weighing up the prospect of loaning Zaccardo until the end of the campaign.
The Italy international can play at full-back and at centre-back. He has recently been linked with a move to Juventus.
