Milan will have to dig deep if they are to sign River Plate starlet Erik Lamela after the Argentine club slapped an €18m price tag on top talent.
Lamela has caught the eye of Milan's scouts, prompting the club's director of sport Ariedo Braida to watch him in person earlier this year.
Milan had reportedly planned to bid €12m for the young playmaker who has drawn comparisons with Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
However, Argentine newspaper Clarin understands River Plate won't sell Lamela for anything less than €18m.
One River Plate director is even quoted as saying: "To tell the truth, [Milan] have been a little low with their offer."
A group of fans also reportedly approached Lamela while the player was on his Christmas holidays, imploring him to stay at the club.
