Walter Sabatini, the man who signed Javier Pastore and uncovered several other young stars, has resigned from his position as Palermo director of sport.
Palermo issued a statement on their official website last night confirming the surprising news.
Maurizio Zamparini has called a shareholders meeting scheduled for November 5 in order to discuss Palermo's next course of action.
Sabatini is credited with finding the likes of Simon Kjaer, Abel Hernandez and Ezequiel Munoz.
Ernesto Bronzetti, one of Italy's most respected transfer consultants, said: "He is one of the best talent scouts around.
"I respect him a lot. I consider him to be really good."
Reports in the Italian media suggest Palermo will replace Sabatini with Siena director of sport Giorgio Perinetti, who did an incredible job at Bari last season.
