Ballardini: 'I wanted Pandev, Ledesma'

Davide Ballardini faces his former club and reveals Lazio ordered him to freeze out Cristian Ledesma and Goran Pandev.

The Genoa Coach was fired by the Biancocelesti in February 2010 and welcomes his old players to Marassi on Thursday.

“Lazio represent the past for me and I have nothing to do with them any more,” he said in his Press conference.

However, Ballardini did let slip that the infamous exclusion of two players amid a contract dispute was not his choice.

“I would ask you one thing. Do you really believe I would leave Pandev and Ledesma out as a tactical choice?

“I was an employee of Lazio and at the start of the season there were some precise agreements between me and the club. I think I respected them and that's all I have to say.”

Pandev eventually had his contract terminated and was able to complete a free transfer to Inter, while Ledesma is still at Lazio.
