Inter President Massimo Moratti has spoken of the regret he feels at not moving to sign Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay international made no secret of his desire to leave Palermo and join Inter during the summer.
However, Inter never made their interest concrete and Cavani joined Napoli instead.
He is now Serie A's top scorer and added three to his tally last night with a hat-trick against Juventus.
"There is always regret when a player you have followed for years does well," Moratti sighed.
In the meantime, the Inter patron had praise for new boss Leonardo who has won his first two games in charge of the Italian champions.
Inter came back from behind to beat Catania at the weekend and currently lie seventh in the table with two games in hand on their rivals.
"It was a very difficult game. To me it seems like the Coach did very well because he reshuffled his pack during the game and knew it would do the team well.
"We'll see if we gradually manage to come back into the title race," he concluded.
